Armenian and American collaboration
Since 2009, the Culture-Preserve has engaged in a scientific and technical collaboration with the History-Cultural Heritage Scientific Research Center (SNPO) of the Armenian Ministry of Culture, as well as the Anthropology Department of Widener University, located in Pennsylvania, USA. The aim of this collaboration has been to continue and expand the extent of the archaeological explorations in Shengavit, as well as bringing together historical/archival material of scientific and educational value to archaeology students.
Archaeological explorations and excavations within the framework of this collaboration have taken place under the direction of Doctor of Historical Science, archaeologist Hakob Simonyan, and Professor Mitchel Rothman, Chair of Anthropology at Widener University. It has yielded an exchange of scientific and technical information between the two sides, along with scientific recognition of the value of the site, the safe preservation of discovered remains and future discoveries, and the valorisation of the site and Culture-Preserve, as well as ongoing stimulation of cultural projects.
