New exhibition entitled “The Urartian monuments in the Republic of Armenia” was opened in Persepolis

On may 16, 2016 in the the Islamic Republic of Iran, in  the World heritage site museum of   Persepolis/ Takht-e Jamshid/ was opened a new exhibition entitled “The Urartian monuments in the Republic of Armenia”. This was а reciprocal exhibition to the exhibition entitled “From Erebuni to Persepolis. At the crossroad of Urartian and Achaemenid cultures” organized in 2015 within the framework of the Armenian-Iranian collaboration. With the welcoming speech came up the director of the “Erebuni” Historical & Archaeological Museum-Reserve, the president of ICOMOS/Armenia NGO Mr. Gagik Gyurjyan, who emphasized in his speech that this exhibition could greatly stimulate to the strengthening of the cultural ties between the 2 countries.

At the opening ceremony with the congratulating speeches came up also the president of International Council of Museums /ICOM/ Mr. Hans-Martin Hinz, the executive director of Iran ICOM Mr. Ahmad Mohit Tabatabai, director of Persepolis museum Mr. Rezaii and others. Then, in Persepolis museum was organized Armenian-Iranian joint lectures. The  exhibition entitled “The Urartian monuments in the Republic of Armenia” was organized within the framework of the Memorandum, signed in Yerevan, in 2015, between ICOMOS/Armenia, ICOM Armenia and Iran ICOM and in the framework of the visit of the Armenian delegation in Iran in the Cultural Week  in IRI from May14-19, 2016.

The delegation was composed of the Yerevan municipality Culture and Tourism department, head of culture unit Mr. Emin Torosyan, president of ICOMOS/Armenia, director of “Erebuni” Historical & Archaeological Museum-Reserve Mr. Gagik Gyurjyan, Head of department of the Ancient Archaeology of Armenia Mr. Mkrtich Zardaryan, Institute of Archaeology and Etnography NAS RA and  the employees of “Erebuni” museum.

Two important agreements were signed within the framework of the visit of the Armenian delegation. The agreements were signed for the cultural cooperation between Yerevan municipality Culture and Tourism department, head of culture unit Mr. Emin Torosyan and  deputy  mayor of Shiraz, the head of department of culture, tourism and social affairs, Mr. H.Bushehri and Head of department of the Ancient Archaeology of Armenia Mr. Mkrtich Zardaryan, as well as  between Institute of Archaeology and Etnography NAS RA and director of Iran’s  Research Institute for Cultural Heritage and Tourism Mr. M. Beheshti on the scientific researches in the sphere of archaeology, ethnography and folklore. During the visit, in the National Library of Shiraz was held the opening ceremony of  Shiraz branch of Iran ICOM, which was accompanied by the congratulatory messages on the 70th anniversary of ICOM. The president of ICOMOS/Armenia, director of  “Erebuni” Historical & Archaeological Museum-Reserve Mr. Gagik Gyurjyan and Yerevan municipality Culture and Tourism department, head of culture unit Mr. Emin Torosyan congritulated the president of ICOM on the occasion of its 70th anniversary, and with the other members of the delegation and officials visited many famous monuments and museums of Shiraz city.
