The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Armenia Mr. Jean- Francois Charpentier visited Erebuni
On June 16, 2016 the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Armenia Mr. Jean- Francois Charpentier visited Erebuni archaeological site. Accompanied by the director of the museum Mr. G. Gyurjyan and the head of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Yerevan Municipality Mr. R. Hovhannisyan, the ambassador walked around the excavation area, got acquainted with the activities carried out by the Armenian-French expedition.
The French head of the Armenian- French expedition Mr. S. Deschamps represented the process of the excavations and noted that in the result of the excavations a pebbly street and a part of drainage system were opened. He also stressed that the archaeological layers of different periods found from the opposite columned hall of the Khaldi temple will have a great importance for the restoration of the temple. The director of the museum Mr. Gyurjyan represented the visitors service improvement and restoration program of the Erebuni citadel and emphasized that the active and productive collaboration with the French side will be continuous.
The Ambassador Mr. Jean- Francois Charpentier also visited Erebuni museum, got acquainted with the permanent exhibition and made an entry in the book of honorable guests. Expressing his gratitude for presenting the archaeological site and the museum, the Ambassador Mr. Jean- Francois Charpentier mentioned that, that was his first visit to “Erebuni” Historical & Archaeological Museum-Reserve and he was really impressed by the activities carried out in the archaeological site and by the exhibition of the museum.
